RCCBs type F have been designed in order to grant reliable protection of lines supplying single phase inverters. In case of fault, inverters generate leakage currents with variable frequency, that cannot be detected by RCCBs AC and A type. Standard types of RCCBs, intended to protect people and equipment at rated frequency 50/60 Hz, are not specifically tested in presence of residual currents with a significant contribution from high frequency AC components.
RCCBs type F offer the same range of protection as a type A RCCBs and, in addition to this, they are also tested according to IEC/EN 62423 which foresees the application of a simulated multi-frequency residual current with appropriate coefficient associated to each level of frequency up to 1kHz. Furthermore RCCBs type F have a short-time delay which prevents unwanted tripping in case pulsed leakage currents of up to ten milliseconds occur at activation of filters.
RCCBs’ functioning is independent from line voltage and its mechanism is trip-free, that is the RCCBs can also trip when the lever is held in ON position. All products can be power supplied from both the top and the bottom terminals. Furthermore “cage” type terminals facilitate connection both through conductors (up to 35mm² rigid and 25mm² flexible) and through busbars (both pin or fork types).
